German inflation rate at +2.9% in April 2026
The inflation rate in Germany, measured as the year-on-year change in the consumer price index (CPI), stood at +2.9% in April 2026. The rise in overall consumer prices intensified again, after having stood at +2.7% in March 2026. In February 2026, it had been +1.9%. A rate of inflation as high as that of April 2026 was last recorded in January 2024. "Overall inflation increased for the second consecutive month as a result of another rise in energy prices that was due to the Iran war.
