U.S. Goods & Services Trade Gap Fuelled Further
The U.S. trade deficit widened further in March, to $60.3 bln from a revised $57.8 bln in the prior month, as imports continued to outpace exports. Total exports increased 2.0% to $320.9 bln, while imports climbed a slightly faster 2.3% to $381.2 bln. On the export side… strength was concentrated in energy-related goods (amid the Iran war) rather than sturdy, broad-based global demand. Total exports rose by $6.2 bln, driven almost entirely by industrial supplies and materials.
