In April 2026, French consumer prices increased by 2.2% year on year

Over a year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 2.2% in April 2026, after +1.7% in March, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. The increase in inflation should again be driven by the sharp acceleration in energy prices (+14.2% over a year after +7.4% in March), in particular those of petroleum products. Prices of services should accelerate slightly over a year. Conversely, the prices of food should slowed down over one year, and those of manufactured products should fall slightly faster than in March.
