MX exports increased by 15.8% and imports by 20.8% year-on-year in February 2026

In February 2026, preliminary foreign trade data showed a trade deficit of US$463 million. This compares to a deficit of US$6.481 billion reported in January. The decrease in the trade deficit between January and February stemmed from an expansion of the non-oil trade balance—which went from a deficit of US$4.267 billion in January to a surplus of US$1.546 billion in February—and a smaller deficit in the oil trade balance—which went from US $2.214 billion to US$2.009 billion during the same period.
