In March 2026, DG ECFIN’s flash estimate1 of the consumer confidence indicator2 plummeted in both the EU (-3.4 percentage points (pps) compared to February) and the euro area (-4.0 pps). 3 At -15.2 (EU) and -16.3 (euro area) points, consumer confidence scores markedly below its long-term average, reaching its lowest level since October 2023.
