Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is suing the Trump administration over stiff tariffs that the company says make it too costly to sell its cars in the United States. The world's now-number-one electric vehicle maker said in a lawsuit filed on Jan. 26 in the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York that Trump exceeded his legal authority when he enacted "substantial tariffs" that "have been imposed on goods imported into the United States from nearly every foreign country, including multiple countries from which plaintiffs source their imports."
