Thailand Begins Gold Restrictions
Thailand is preparing new restrictions on gold trading and financial data reporting as authorities seek to contain currency distortions, speculative capital flows, and money laundering risks linked to a surge in gold transactions during a record rally in the precious metal. Thai authorities said they will introduce new caps on gold trading activity and foreign currency transactions as part of a coordinated effort to stabilize the baht and strengthen oversight of capital movements, following a sharp rise in gold-related flows.
