US durable goods orders down by 2.2% in October

Durable goods orders in the United States fell by 2.2% in October on a monthly basis to $307.4 billion, the US Census Bureau revealed in its report on Tuesday. Transportation equipment drove the decrease, dropping 6.5% compared to the previous month to $103.9 billion. Excluding transportation, new orders increased 0.2%. Meanwhile, excluding defense, new orders dropped 1.5%. Shipments of manufactured durable goods went up 0.6% to land at $309.6 billion. Unfilled orders for manufactured durable goods slightly increased by 0.2% to $1,492.8 billion.
