Flash Consumer Confidence Indicator for the EU and Euro Area

In December 2025, DG ECFIN’s flash estimate1 of the consumer confidence indicator2 remained broadly stable in the EU (-0.1 percentage points) and edged down in the euro area (-0.4 percentage points). At -13.7 (EU) and -14.6 (euro area) points, consumer confidence remained well below its long-term average. This month's Flash CCI for the EU aggregate is computed on the basis of consumer survey data from 26 EU countries (all except Spain), covering 90.9% (EU) and 89.3% (euro area) of total private final consumption expenditure.
