US consumer confidence improves in December

The Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States improved by 4.5% in December compared to the previous month, and reached 53.3, coming in above analysts' expectations, a preliminary report posted by the University of Michigan revealed on Friday. The figure declined by 28% on an annual level. The Current Economic Conditions Index slipped by 0.8% on a monthly basis to stand at 50.7 in December, dropping by 32.5% year-on-year.
