As the US-China trade war accelerated ahead of the November 9 deadline for reinstating US reciprocal tariffs, China imposed renewed export controls on rare earths and critical minerals, while the US threatened an additional 100% in tariffs. US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in late November, with discussions between the two leaders temporarily easing trade concerns. China agreed to limit export controls for one year, including those on graphite, while the US reduced the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) fentanyl tariffs from 20% to 10%.
