US Fifth District Manufacturing Activity Was Slow in October
Fifth District manufacturing activity was slow in October, according to the most recent survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. The composite manufacturing index rose to -4 in October from -17 in September. All three of its component indexes increased. The shipments index increased notably to 4 from -20, new orders rose to -6 from -15, and employment rose to -10 from -15. The local business conditions index rose to -1 in October.
