AU Unemployment rate jumps to its highest level in four years
Australia’s unemployment rate has soared to its highest level since November 2021 in a move that shocked market experts. Fresh figures released by the ABS shows 34,000 Australians lost their job in September, while the number of people who gained work was 15,000. This left the overall unemployment rate in September at 4.5 per cent, up from a revised 4.3 per cent in August. Prior to Thursday’s figures economists projected an increase in employment of 20,000 but a jobless rate to 4.3 per cent.
