Canadian industries operated at 79.3% of their production capacity in the second quarter, down from 79.9% in the first quarter, which was revised down slightly. Capacity utilization in the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction sector decreased by 1.0 percentage point to 75.9% in the second quarter. This decline coincided with the decrease in oil and gas extraction activities because of forest fires and maintenance work.
