German inflation rate at +2.2% in August 2025
The inflation rate in Germany, measured as the year-on-year change in the consumer price index (CPI), stood at +2.2% in August 2025. In both July and June 2025, it stood at +2.0%. "The rate of inflation has inched up slightly for the first time this year", says Ruth Brand, President of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). She adds: "The increase in food prices accelerated in August. In addition, the decline in energy prices contributed less to slowing inflation than in the previous months."
