Economic activity in the services sector grew in July for the second consecutive month, say the nation's purchasing and supply executives in the latest Services ISM® Report On Business®. The Services PMI® indicated expansion at 50.1 percent, above the 50-percent breakeven point for the 12th time in the last 13 months. The activity in the United States' service sector decreased slightly in July, with the Services Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) going from June's 50.8% to 50.1% while remaining in the expansion territory, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) said in its report published on Tuesday. The New Orders Index declined by 1 percentage point compared to the previous month to 50.3% and the Business Activity Index was down by 1.6 percentage points to 52.6%.
