US construction spending drops 0.4% in June

Construction spending in the United States recorded $2.13 trillion in June, down by 0.4% compared to the previous month's revised figure, the US Census Bureau revealed in a report on Friday. On an annual basis, the figure declined 2.9%. Spending on private construction reached $1.62 trillion, 0.5% below the revised May reading. Residential construction decreased by 0.7% to $883 billion in June, while nonresidential construction declined 0.3% to $738 billion. Public construction was $514 billion, 0.1% higher than last month's figure. (full story)
