Euro area international trade in goods surplus €16.2 bn

The first estimates of euro area balance showed a €16.2 bn surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in May 2025, compared with + €12.7 bn in May 2024. The euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world in May 2025 were €242.6 billion, an increase of 0.9% compared with May 2024 (€240.6 bn). Imports from the rest of the world stood at €226.5 bn, down by 0.6% compared with May 2024 (€227.9 bn). In May 2025, the euro area balance increased compared to April 2025, with the total surplus rising from €11.1 bn to €16.2 bn.
