South African Consumer Price Index: May 2025
Annual consumer price inflation was 2,8% in May 2025, unchanged from 2,8% in April 2025. The CPI increased by 0,2% month-on-month in May 2025. The main contributors to the 2,8% annual inflation rate were: • housing and utilities (4,5% and contributing 1,0 percentage point); • food and non-alcoholic beverages (4,8% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point); and • alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4,3% and contributing 0,2 of a percentage point) – see Table C and Table E.
