German wholesale prices in May 2025: +0.4% on May 2024
The selling prices in wholesale trade were 0.4% higher in May 2025 than in May 2024. The year-on-year rate of change was +0.8% in April 2025, and +1.3% in March 2025. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that wholesale prices in May 2025 fell by 0.3% on April 2025. The main reason for the year-on-year increase in wholesale prices (total) in May 2025 were higher prices of food, beverages and tobacco, with prices up 4.3% from May 2024, on average. The wholesale prices particularly of coffee, tea, cocoa and spices were much higher than a year earlier (+38.4%), as were the prices of sugar, confectionery ... (full story)
