French GDP accelerates slightly in the third quarter of 2024 (+0.4% after +0.2%)

Gross domestic product (GDP) in volume* accelerated moderately in the third quarter: it increased by 0.4%, after +0.2% in the second quarter, stimulated by the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. Final domestic demand (excluding inventories) is recovering somewhat as a result of the rebound in household consumption (+0.5% after +0.0%). Conversely, gross fixed capital formation continues to decline (-0.8% after -0.1%). Overall, domestic demand (excluding inventories) is making a positive contribution to GDP growth this quarter: +0.2 points after +0.1 points in the second quarter of 2024.
