Peru's mining and hydrocarbons sector grows nearly 4% in January
Peru's critical mining and hydrocarbons sector expanded 3.96% year-on-year in January, official data showed on Friday, in a sign of recovery after output contracted last year. The uptick was mainly driven by higher production volumes of gold (25.9%), silver (16.6%) and molybdenum (8.8%), the South American country's statistics agency noted in a document. The agency did not report on copper's performance, of which Peru is the second-largest producer. Local oil exploitation grew by 21.5%, data showed.
