In the period following the publication of the last Financial Stability Report in June 2021, economic and financial conditions for the Swiss banking system were favourable until the end of the year. Since then, they have become more challenging, particularly due to the war in Ukraine. Overall, the economic recovery from the pandemic has continued. GDP has returned to, or even exceeded, pre-pandemic levels in most countries and unemployment rates have receded globally.
