GE Prelim CPI m/m
Consumer prices account for a majority of overall inflation. Inflation is important because rising prices lead the central bank to raise interest rates out of respect for their inflation containment mandate;
Listed as an 'All Day' event because the 'Actual' is comprised of data from 6 German states which report their CPI throughout the day. The Preliminary release is the Eurozone's earliest major consumer inflation. There are 2 versions of CPI released about 15 days apart - Preliminary and Final. The Final is not reported for lack of significance;

The just-released flash estimate of German inflation for January is a welcome surprise for both consumers and the European Central Bank, showing a drop in headline inflation to 2.3% year-on-year, from 2.6% YoY in December. Core inflation came down to 2.9% YoY from 3.3% YoY. The European inflation measure came in unchanged at 2.8% YoY. While gasoline prices continued to increase in January, household energy prices were down compared with last year. The available regional state data suggests diverging energy price trends, with ...

The difficult last mile is back. The just-released flash estimate of German inflation for December indicates that the summer celebrations over successfully conquering the inflation monster were premature. German headline inflation came in at 2.6% year-on-year, up from 2.2% YoY in November. Back in September, headline inflation was still at 1.6% YoY. The European inflation measure ...

German inflation unexpectedly remained unchanged in November, backing arguments for the European Central Bank to continue lowering interest rates. Consumer-price growth in Europe’s largest economy held at 2.4% — below the 2.6% median estimate in a Bloomberg survey. A moderation in food costs offset energy base effects, according to statistics agency Destatis, and may explain the undershoot. The data contrast with figures from Spain earlier Thursday showing faster price gains. Officials nevertheless expect the euro zone as a whole to ...

Inflation in Germany, as measured by the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to 2.2% on a yearly basis in November from 2% in September, Destatis' flash estimate showed on Thursday. This reading came in below the market expectation of 2.3%. On a monthly basis, the CPI declined 0.2% as anticipated. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices in Germany, the European Central Bank's preferred gauge of inflation, increased 2.4% on a yearly basis, matching September's reading and falling short of analysts' estimate of 2.6%. EUR/USD ...
