Census Bureau Reports 11% Dip in Copper Scrap Exports

The exports of copper waste and scrap by the U.S. registered notable decline during the initial eleven-month period of 2019, says data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. The country exported $2.61 billion worth of scrap copper during this period, down by 10.90% when compared with the exports of $2.93 billion during Jan-Nov ’18. The primary export destination of copper waste and scrap from the U.S. was China. The waste import restrictions declared by Chinese authorities have resulted in 62% decline in U.S. exports to that country.
