Zambia cancels copper mining project in National Park

The Government of Zambia has reportedly cancelled plans to allow the construction of a major copper mine in the Lower Zambezi National Park. The development comes after Australia’s Mwembeshi Resources received authorisation from the country’s High Court to construct a copper mine in the park. The National Park is located 174km (108 miles) south-east of the capital Lusaka. China-based Grand Resources owns Mwembeshi, which is registered in Dubai.
