London copper sheds gains as China auto sales continue to dive

London copper recovered from early falls to trade slightly higher on Wednesday, supported by signs that top consumer China will take measures to ease the impact of a trade war with the United States. "The measures will benefit some companies from both China and the U.S.," Hu Xijin, the editor in chief of the Global Times newspaper, said on Twitter. The market was also supported by concerns in some quarters about supply disruptions due to a mining strike in Peru.
