South Africa's mining production drops 1.5% in May

South Africa's mining production decreased by 1.5% year-on-year in May 2019, latest data from Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) showed. The largest negative contributors were gold, at -24.4%, and contributing -3.3 percentage points; diamonds at -30.7% and contributing -1.7 percentage points; iron ore, at -5,2% and contributing -0.7 of a percentage point; and "other" metallic minerals, at -9.8% and contributing -0.6 of a percentage point.
