Japan's industrial production slips in April

{video} Japan's industrial output was down in April for the first time in three months. The decline is mainly due to fewer orders for chip-making equipment and flat-panel displays. Government data shows a 0.4-percent drop in the industrial-production index in April from the month before. Production machinery posted a fall of 7.4 percent. Output of iron and steel was down 1.1 percent. Despite April's decline, the industry ministry is maintaining its output assessment, saying it's showing signs of moderate expansion.
