Long steel output falls at India's JSW in April

Indian private-sector producer JSW Steel's long steel production dropped in April because of planned shutdowns at its Salem plant in Tamil Nadu and Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka. Long steel production dropped by 9pc on the year to 321,000t. Indian steel mills typically undergo maintenances at the beginning of the new fiscal year in April. Its crude steel production rose by 7pc against the previous year to 1.78mnt in April, while production of flat-rolled products rose by 16pc from a year earlier to 1.39mn t.
