The U.S. economy posted a growth rate of 2.1% in 2022 compared to 2021 after reporting an annualized quarter over quarter growth rate during the last quarter of the year of 2.9%. Economic growth slowed down considerably during this year compared to 2021 when growth surged by 5.9% compared to 2020. Although consumption was slower in the fourth quarter of the year than during the third quarter, increasing 2.1% versus 2.3% in the third quarter, goods consumption recovered from a fall of 0.4% in the third quarter to a growth rate of 1.1% during the last quarter of the year.
