According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), silver production in Peru, the world’s third largest silver producing country, was 241,446 kg in March 2022, a decline of 9.8% compared to 267,681 kg mined in March 2021. MINEM said that similarly, production during the first quarter showed a contraction of 6.6%, due to the lower production reported by Compañía Minera Ares S.A.C. (-3.1%), Minera Chinalco Peru S.A.
