Import prices in October 2021: +21.7% on October 2020

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the index of import prices increased by 21.7% in October 2021 compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. This has been the highest year-on-year change since January 1980 (+21.8%, on January 1979). In September 2021 and in August 2021 the annual rates of change were +17.7% and +16.5%, respectively. From September 2021 to October 2021 the index rose by 3.8%.In October 2021 energy imports were 141.0% more expensive than in October 2020.
