The gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 1.7% in the third quarter of 2021 compared with the second quarter of 2021 after adjustment for price, seasonal and calendar variations. The recovery of the German economy thus continued in summer, after the GDP had grown by 2.0% in the second quarter of 2021 (revised result based on most recent calculations). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the increase in the third quarter of 2021 was by 0.1 percentage points lower than reported in the first release of 29 October 2021.
