NYPD has identified 2 possible Diamond District thieves
Two of the three bandits wanted for pulling off a brazen $4 million jewelry heist in Manhattan’s Diamond District are known to the NYPD — and investigators believe they’ve ID’ed them through facial recognition technology, police sources told The Post on Wednesday. The thieves knocked off Avianne & Co. Jewelers at 28 W. 47th St. in a gunpoint stickup Sunday after they were buzzed into the store. They told workers they were there to buy rings, and then two of the robbers pulled out guns and forced an employee to open the store’s safes.
