Hey everyone thought I'd share my trading strategy I use for equities and futures. First post will be on equities as it is a bit different than my futures strategy. With futures I trade all sorts of commodities/currencies, gold/oil on news days after news release, and trade ES mostly everyday. But this chart setup works very well on futures as well, so even though this first post is on stocks, I'll supply my Thinkorswim chart/indicator template if you want to try it out.
Equities
Watchlist is comprised of the prior days post market gainers/losers and well as current days premarket gainers/losers. Both % gain/loss and $ gain/loss. I scan the news looking for upgrades and downgrades from the major players, along with big price target upgrades/downgrades and put those on watch as well. I will go into this more in depth as there's quite a bit to it, such as reading analyst reports, keywords, forward guidance, etc.
Chart setup
I use a 1 minute chart, I have a 3/5/15 up as well later in the day. TTM Squeeze (pro) and Squeeze Candles that color the bars blue when in a squeeze. I have hi/lo swing (marks prior swing hi/lows automatically) as well as Vwap and some moving averages. Generally I take trades in the direction of the intraday trend, but when something is way down on an over-reaction I'll look for longs, or vice versa. I wait for the stock to be in a squeeze and take the brake of the swing hi for longs, swing lo for shorts, or a nice triangle/wedge pattern. I've been using this system for many years, and have chart examples from back then, they are the same setups over and over again. When I started this helped me be patient, have a set entry criteria, and a set risk criteria. Although nowadays I take trades that aren't in squeezes at times, a high percent of my trades are still out of squeezes. Below are some chart examples and live pnl examples (winners and losers). Some of these charts are from prior years, I've changed the color of the bars from time to time, so if you see orange, or pink colored bars for example, those are squeeze candles. I have thousands of charts on my computer from over the years, I will keep uploading them as well as current setups/trades.
