Here is the Gekko's speech (Money Never Sleeps a.k.a. "Wall Street 2" - 2010)
Hedge funders were walking home with 50, 100 million bucks a year. So Mr. Banker, he's looks around, and he says, "My life looks pretty boring. " So he starts leveraging his interests up to 40, 50 to one with your money. Not his, yours. Because he could. You're supposed to be borrowing, not them. And the beauty of the deal, no one is responsible. Because everybody's drinking the same Kool-Aid.
Last year, ladies and gentlemen, forty percent of all American corporate profits came from financial services. Not production, not anything remotely to dowith the needs of the American public. The truth is, we're all part of it now. Banks, consumers, we're moving money around in circles. We take a buck, we shoot it full of steroids, and we call it "leverage. "I call it "steroid banking. "

So putting both together I think Axe is onto something... I myself would seriously consider to being a BANK vs HF.. if I had the option.. since it seems you can do HF in BANK just as well.. just with much less hate, better image + safety net, since you do support the system/quo

Would love to have a bank... Remember/recognise the quote? "My Bank Will"... BTW it is much cheaper than people think... Setting up (basic or specialised bank) would cost a fraction of any proper Hedge Fund... at least in EU, UK... https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/-/me...ldibecomeabank And you know what is even better... once you get to the (I)-Bank level.. juice is not (that) important anymore, if at all... since it is a commission or big numbers game business... aka money making money

Can you afford to take that chance?
