I have improved the EA (new version attached) so that it gives you the Buy Stop or Sell Stop level and the Stop Loss too. You can choose the number of pips above and below the bar for the order and stop level. If you are using a 5 digit broker such ...

You are right. It is an EA so you need to put it into your Experts folder then drag it onto the chart from the Navigator - make sure you enable Expert Advisors (Tools/Options/Expert Advisers/Enable Expert Advisors) or click ExpertAdvisors on the ...

Alert — Here is an alert for Wiseman 1. It is actually an EA rather than an indicator and it inserts text at the top left of the screen. It looks at the previous complete bar and will state "NO SIGNAL" or "Bearish Divergent Bar" or "Bullish ...

So, if you get stopped out, you reverse the trade? And if you hit TP you re-enter in the same direction? Duncan

Why Buy or Sell? — Forgive me if I am missing something. It is normal to have a reason to Buy or Sell. You just say ...Buy or Sell. Which, when and why? Duncan

Corre I have had a quick look and one immediate problem is that the EA does not deal with the Friday close and Sunday open. The EA that I have written doesn't have that feature yet but it will do shortly and it hasn'#t yet been verified as working ...

It depends which pair you are talking about. GBPUSD has been performing better than EURUSD

On this occasion it would have been better but on others it would not. The fact is that the rule as stated by Sterling is far more profitable than the way that I read it - according to backtests with my EA.
- Duncan replied Nov 14, 2008
Gregoga I'm glad that someone else read the rules the same way that I did. However, I have modified my EA so that it conforms with the rule as intended by Sterling and it does backtest better so it must be right.

Sterling Thanks for the confirmationon the rules. I have amended the EA and it backtests better. An update is on its way to you.

Tonirai Thanks for your detailed reply. I have looked back at post #419 where Sterling explains a situation that mirrors yours and it is clear that he wants the system to work in exactly the way that you describe. On this basis I have amended my ...

Tonirai I can see what you mean but, the way that I read it, the reversal bar is overruled by the creation of a new setup bar (Rule 1). In reading rules it is normal for an earlier rule to take precedence and this is a case in point although I don’t ...

Tonirai Rule 3 says that if the price keeps going in the same direction, new setup bars are formed. It does not say that, if the price reverses, new set bars which meet the requirements of Rule 1 are not valid.

Howard I can find no reference in the rules to Setup bars “failing”. The only similar stipulation is in Rule 4 but this relates to Reversal bars – not Set up bars. Bar 5 meets the requirements of Rule 1 and so does bar 6 – if Rule 1 applies, these ...

El Dee The candle marked 5 on your chart is treated as a Setup bar in my EA because it meets the requirements of Rule 1, "Price must go above/below the EMA by 5 pips for it to be considered a Set up bar." Therefore the EA would have entered a ...

An EA can work exactly how you wish. I have sent Sterling a demo EA which I think he is testing at the moment. This EA exactly follows Sterling's rule (Initial Stop Placement rule 2) "Only put a trade to go the other direction in the market after a ...

Rules for EA — I am starting to write the EA for this. My immediate stumbling block is the reference to both bars and candlesticks in the original rules published in this thread. A bar is not a candlestick. If a bar breaks an EMA, it doesn't ...
