Bier, the director of immigration studies at the Cato Institute. “There’s going to be supply chain issues. There’s going to be increases in prices, decreases in services.” Experts are concerned that deporting such a large number of undocumented immigrants at once could leave a hole in the labor force. People here illegally cannot legally work. They are taking gov't handouts and contributing nothing to our economy.
What is this? A communist discussion forum or is it supposed to be economics (as opposed to decadent "scientific socialism" we were forced to pass exams in in a communist country that will remain nameless)?

I agree we have an immigration problem. We have US employers (including Donald Trump) refusing to hire only documented workers. To say undocumented workers contribute nothing is a lie, though: they are part of the large immigrant workforce who are doing the work that most Americans will not do. That's why eliminating them will be inflationary. Possibly catastrophic. Trump and the oligarch Press treat this as a political issue. They have no interest in getting rid of all that cheap labor. You'll see Trump focus the deportation sweeps on Democrat States and cities. Not Florida and Texas, where there are more illegal aliens than anywhere.

Trump's approach to solving this massive problem will probably fail. It'll be expensive and unsustainable. It'll deliver good optics for his racist base though, who will gloat watching clips of the sweeps and detention camps on Faux News. Congress will continue to do nothing.
