US construction spending down 0.1% in August
Construction spending in the United States decreased by 0.1% in August compared to July, landing at $2,131.9 billion, according to a report by the Census Bureau published on Tuesday. On a yearly basis, construction spending rose by 4.5%. Spending on private construction was down 0.2% month-on-month and amounted to $1,642.2 billion. Residential construction fell by 0.3% and non-residential construction by 0.1%. Public construction spending added 0.3% from July, reaching $489.8 billion. Educational construction was unchanged from July, while highway construction increased by 1.1%.
