US Manufacturing PMI at 47.2%; September 2024 Manufacturing ISM Report On Business
Economic activity in the manufacturing sector contracted in September for the sixth consecutive month and the 22nd time in the last 23 months, say the nation's supply executives in the latest Manufacturing ISM® Report On Business®. The report was issued today by Timothy R. Fiore, CPSM, C.P.M., Chair of the Institute for Supply Management® (ISM®) Manufacturing Business Survey Committee: "The Manufacturing PMI® registered 47.2 percent in September, matching the figure recorded in August. ISM: US manufacturing PMI unchanged in September
Manufacturing sector activity in the United States remained unchanged in September compared to the previous month, a report from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) published on Tuesday showed. ISM Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) stood at 48.5%, remaining below the 50% threshold for the sixth consecutive month. In the reported month, the New Orders Index landed at 46.1%, up from 44.6% registered in August. The Employment Index slipped 2.1 percentage points month on month, to 43.9%.
