Copper shortage getting real
At AOTH we've been writing about the coming copper supply deficit for years, while mainstream media kept quiet on the issue. We were among the first to report on how a decline in productivity from existing copper mines, driven by open-pit to underground expansions, and a decline in ore quality, has been combining with a lack of new discoveries, to produce a shortfall of mined copper supply at exactly the wrong time. i.e. just as the demand for the red metal is ramping up due to the global electrification and decarbonization trend.
