Copper production in Peru up 8.6% in June, ministry says
According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), copper production in Peru, the world’s second largest copper producing country, amounted to 198,467 tonnes in June 2022, up 8.6% compared to June 2021 (182,711 tonnes). Similarly, Peru’s copper production in January-June 2022 of 1,096,655 tonnes registered a year-on-year increase of 1.2%. MINEM said that this positive performance was mainly due to an increase in copper output by Antamina Mining Company S.A. (+5.5%), Mining Company Cerro Verde S.A.A.
