  • Carney: The Global Outlook

    From bankofengland.co.uk

It sometimes seems that everything in our world is connected. It is a pleasure to meet in Frobisher Hall today. This hall is named after Sir Martin Frobisher, an English navigator who explored Canada’s eastern arctic coast in the 16th century in search of new trade routes. His connection to the Barbican is that most of him is buried in the St Giles-in-the-Fields churchyard. (His heart and entrails are in St Andrew’s Church in Plymouth). Martin Frobisher is perhaps more famous in Canada than in his native land. One of the great bays in the eastern arctic is named after him. The capital of Nunavut, Iqaluit, lies at the innermost ... • Bank of England's Carney sees 'delicate equilibrium' as world economy slows

    From reuters.com

Global economic growth is likely to stabilize at a new, slower pace, although China, trade wars and rising protectionism threaten the “delicate equilibrium”, Bank of England Governor Mark Carney said. He pointed to a shift towards tighter financial conditions from rising in interest rates, as well as trade tensions, as reasons for the recent slowdown in the world economy. Rising debt in China and new barriers to global trade were a “significant and growing” risk to the global outlook for growth, and protectionism was already having an impact, Carney said in a speech at a Financial Times event on Tuesday. “Given the confluence of the current ... Rakeem, The pound will do what the pound will do, irregardless of what YOU think (btw I AM in your camp) but price action is much more important than fundamental stories like the above.

A single tweet can cause the pound to rise 100 pips only to fall back 1-2 hours later. What is interesting is when there is a 'TW' (TWEET RESPONSE [My term, going to trademark it ]) it is 'mostly' positive for pound...makes you wonder.....

LOL I'm ALWAYS CORRECT When I predict the past.....

Rangebound with downward bias since the begging of February. Like to reach 1.2930-1.2950 before resuming downward to the 1.2850 support.

BTW 1.2850 is the 50% retracement from the 12-12 low of 1.2478 and the 1-25 high of 1.3216....So will the 50% re-tracement hold?

Time will tell...

One has to wonder if the sub-text to Carney's speech is actually an acknowledgement that 'Winter is coming' - arctic journeys and all.

....not quite, you and I most time's have a clue about most things agree, but Mr Carney or as I call him Mr "can't he or can he", seem's to perpetually dither about how things are, or not, one minute Brexit will bring about the "end" of the world, now, well it could be alright, as I said, "can't he or can he"....
