Personally, I think many people use 'psychology' as an excuse because their methodology is failing to make money. It's much easier to talk about (and write books about) 'the mental game' than it is to find a way to trade profitably, because it is all subjective and unquantifiable.
Transaction costs are one factor, definitely (although people do like to ignore them, for some reason), but a more pressing one is 'noise'. Or, more correctly, the information content...

good post mate. im glad someyone went into this aspect of the issue.
I just want to add the point of location. The best trade possibilities come at the best locations and it doesnt matter what TF your looking at the price will be the same in all of them!

im suprised this hasnt been mentioned (jus ignore me if it has ...lol)
eu/gb 4hBUOB, its a bit of a range trade but thats what this pair does best the RN above was the obvious first target for me,or at least up near it.
whish i had caught the 1h pin though....
jon

Props man. Well done.

yeah agreed, the .86 would have been nice but if you look at the line chart price closed sround the .8650 mark more often than at the the RN, and in fact i have the whole area as a PPZ on my chart. i also liked the fact that it was almost the exact lows of wednesday....somebody thought it a good price
i also had a us/chf short so was feelin bullish for the eu already..lol a nice little 15min pin after it broke the recent range and the RN to the downside. i caught the retest of the RN.
for some reason my comp is playin up and it wont save my charts so i cant post one to show the setup!?!?!?!?!?!!?
jon
EDIT: removed the WRONG! charts. lol

lol...dont confuse the TFs though, it could be a break out on the weekly but still retrace hundreds of pips tradable on the daily TF.
jus my 2 pips

i like the daily set up better, just looking at the chart it is as mike said,'tradable(possibly)with a tight MM style' and it does look like it would give some pips if it breaks. The problem is is that its a friday and the spike may be nothing more than weekend cleaning.it might not even make 94.50!?!?
the weekly looks different as it is at a swing high rather than a swing low. i know it is on a retrace but a very shallow one. it also has the bar highs immedietly in front, to contend with and the 95 RN. Although it could work out and be a nice runner if it breaks, price has broke a weekly TL and the weekly divergence points to around 101.00ish if it fulfills itself? i personally would like a better bar at a more obvious price level than this though, e.g. a 50% fib retrace etc. one to watch for me.
hope this helps

hi Fulgurator, i quite like this one but i have some concerns which are holding me back, i dont like the beob from yesterday. This, to me, shows more indecision than bullish/bearish PA, in fact if you put the two bars together you get a spinning top or a doji, which is a sign if indecision.basically price moves to either side of the current trading range eventually closing somewhere near the middle, testing both sides of the fence if you like.
i would have liked a deeper retracement also, although it did hit a 50% fib i still would have liked to have seen a more thourough test of that area at least. Plus ,as you said, it has that BEOBs high to contend with if it does break.
this is just my way of viewing things, hope it hepls??
