Well if everyone was thinking long then a stop hunt might make sense. Tight stop at strong support for a long. Maybe? That would be my low budget speculation.

I've never seen price drop 150+ pips in a few seconds. Unreal....

I had a buy order in it was up 240 pips and dropped to 60 so I closed now it's back up and now back down LMAO.
I almost made up all my losses and have my account back to BE, could have been ahead. Just by a few seconds.

This ugly bar 5 minute. Man, I was so ready to close the trade and it just dropped like a stone.
EDIT: This was more of a roll the dice trade vs. genuine PA. I can admit that.

I was downstairs loading up the rice cooker for dinner and walked in my room and I'm like holy $@!% I need to close this. It moved so fast I couldn't move and click the mouse fast enough. OMG what a joke....

Rac, would say the SNB intervention was successful? It seems like price got driven down pretty hard.

Hehehehe, the EUR/CHF was strictly trying to take advantage of SNB Intervention. I though it was worth the risk, just wasn't prepared for it to show up during Asia session.
We all have our battles to fight and I'm glad to hear you are improving. Trade Well.

I think this is just a phase in the early years of trading. It's funny many trade to free themselves up to do things they want, but all their time is spent trading. I see it as a phase, we are putting in time today to have free time at a later date.
If you are still like this after a few years then maybe there is a deeper issue, until then stay focused and dedicated, but try to have a little more balance.
When the thrill is gone and its boring and you have more money than you know what to do with, I'm sure the last thing you'll be doing is staying glued to the screen.

I'm a HUGE fan of the Law of Attraction and I've had success on a more superficial basis. I actually found my town home (almost exactly like I pictured and asked for in my minds eye) and I got some checks in the mail (over payments on some medical expenses that showed up). It's actually a pretty weird thing. I have tried to use it to bring better things into my life, but there is a some type of roadblock on the more MAJOR things in life. Maybe I'm not ready to receive or it just takes longer.
But, you are 100% correct. It is real, I've seen it work.
P.S. if you want to know about the tome home story send me a P.M. wouldn't want to bore folks with my personal life. LOL

Well I got a couple of stories I could contribute to your thread. I think I've been using the Law of Attraction for a long time, but I don't think I actually knew what it was until all the women at my work were passing around "The Secret" DVD and wouldn't stop talking about it. I guess Oprah made a big deal about it and it really went 'mainstream'. Since then I've done some lite research of my own and found 'law of attraction' used in religions (some religions call it 'practical prayer' and I also got the book "Think and Grow Rich" which is pretty much tapping into the same source.
I know there more reclusive works out there, it's just hard to filter all the current mainstream stuff and fluff now that it is more popular.

I was going to say something similar. Also, last week was pretty crazy volatility, so it would make sense there would be lots of profit taking. Especially after a 43 dollar move in gold in one shot.

Nice post. This part of your post reminds me of 38 Steps to Being a Trader Thread http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=1
You made several points, but this point of disillusion and letting it crystallize is something that I've been going through the last few months. The reality has sunk in and in the early stages of crystallization. It's a tough nut to crack (in the sense of accepting it and realizing this trading thing is going to be on the level of the one of the most, if not the most, difficult thing in life to accomplish) but like you said it is part of the process.
Have a good weekend.

You just reminded me of NetDania's Quote list I used to run often. What I noticed when just looking at price that I'd look over every so often and notice it hadn't moved much. The bar charts make you think price is moving all over the place, but when you just look at price it seems more static (until an actual move happens, of course)...
Here's a screenshot...
