No news on the calendar.

Does anyone use this method?
eSignal can get volume from all the brokers and compile it and it is about as close as you can get to volume information in Forex. The VSA (Volume Spread Analysis) Thread actually trade using tick volume.

For the J16 stuff you really don't need it, but if you really want to dig into volume those are the places to look. Personally, I'd stick with the J16 stuff.

Simple or not, it is highly 'smoothed'. I've looked at Trend Following and something like a 60-day Simple MA can get results just buying above or selling below. Naturally it works best once you start to trend.

I was reading an article or a post that said every trader should at some point trade a system that they would never consider. The point was basically, by trying something you'd never consider your probably going to learn a few things. One you really do like it or solidify what you are currently doing. This is definitely a method I would never try. With that said, I'm thinking I should at least at one point actually take a look and try it. Who knows what I'll discover.

Well, I've heard a few successful traders say something similar. Seeing fear and greed on the chart is another way I've heard it stated. It's still a big mystery to me, but maybe it just comes with time over the years, IF you make it in this business. Thanks for your posts, you've actually touched on subject I'd filed away and forgotten about and got me thinking a little.

I think with the new regulations the first lot you opened will be the first lot you close. FIFO - First In First Out.

Amazing. Way to go Nasir.

Default Another perspective on Fear.

Another perspective on Fear.

Fear is part of a normally functioning human being. Fear triggers the fight or flight response. The problem in trading is sometimes the fear is unjustified and that is where traders get in trouble.

On the other hand, fear may also be your friend. There actually maybe a real danger in the market that needs to be paid attention to, without fear you'd never react to real danger. Fear is more like a warning light on the dashboard of the car. It's a way of your mind and body saying, hey something isn't right.

When fear hits it is time to pay attention to what is going one within yourself and what is going on in the market. Unjustified fear will ruin you and justified fear will save you. As traders we will feel fear, but the key is how we deal with it.

Ah yes, ones 'financial thermostat". I hate that term it is so over used, but it really does apply in money aspects of life.

Ah synchronicity strikes again. This blog post came out Today, lucky you.
http://traderfeed.blogspot.com/2010/...-is-right.html

I think journals should be private for the most part or at least only shared with understanding peers. Nothing worse than putting a personal thought in a journal and have someone attack you. There was a good trader here at FF that posted it all (good and bad with full statements) and eventually was attacked and he no longer posts publicly. When you're winning you're a hero and when you start losing you're a zero in the public's view.

It is funny how certain things can correlate. I do not know if this was the true reason you gave yourself that...
Wow... Whether or not that was the intention, it does fit quite nicely. Excellent observation.

You are very lucky that you've never ran into a woman that made you want to drive your car into a wall.

Mike Judge made another movie recently "Extract" that is pretty good too, nothing beats office space though.

Have you ever read any ofG. I. Gurdjieff works? I've only read "In Search of the Miraculous" which is about Gurdjieff written by someone else. Interesting character, you might like him.

G. I. Gurdjieff

Some of his "followers" have formed some weird cults which is scary, but the basics of what he had to say are interesting. I'm not into any of the "4th way" stuff at all. Just wanted to put that disclaimer out there so folks don't get the wrong idea.

The stuff I like was more about how people can be very robotic and automated and not realize their our own self. Stuff like that which other people have touched on as well.

Maybe it is fear. I think most people don't even realize they are alive. When something happens to shake them up a bit they 'wake up' and then the fear sets in because now all of sudden they are aware of themselves and their mortality and want nothing more but to go back to go back into their little fantasy world. TV is great for these people since they can enter a hypnotic state and 'lose themselves'.

They want to have 'things' and they identify themselves with their 'things'. The movie "Fight Club" actually touched on this subject and if you really look under the hood and see what the movie was really about, it's a trip.

My canned answer:

Free Stuff:

Go through Babypips school
Read this page in the rookie section: http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=39514

Buy Stuff:

Two books to get: Van Tharp "Trade your way to financial Freedom" and Martin Pring "Pring on Price Patterns".
That should keep you busy for a month or two.
